Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide direct management support and assume the leadership role of the office staff in the Payroll Department

Establish tactical priorities, goals, and deliverables to all levels of the organization for the Payroll Department and participate in the strategic planning of General Accounting.

Evaluate and establish effective payroll controls partnering with the HR and Finance/Accounting teams, leading to best-practice operations

Ensure the accurate and timely processing of new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations

Direct and manage the timely and accurate completion of payroll ensuring that the KRONOS Time and Attendance system is accurately calculating employees payroll in accordance with company policy, union contracts, federal and state regulations

Manage and processes the Executive Payroll, including taxable and non-taxable reimbursements and maintains strict controls to ensure confidentiality of the data

Oversee production of employee payroll, quarterly, and annually W-2?s; ensure that W-2?s to employee?s are issued correctly and timely in accordance with the Federal and State tax regulations

Manage tracking and remittance of withheld taxes and deductions and maintain compliance with Federal and State entities

Provide accounting expertise to payroll staff

Serve as primary resource on payroll laws, policies and union contracts for the payroll department, as well as other departments

Ensure that all employee taxable and non-taxable reimbursements are processed accurately

Work with HR department to ensure all benefits are processed appropriately and in a timely manner

Identify and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner

Provide adequate support to all external and internal audits of payroll files and records
