Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Senior Program Lead, the Youth
Engagement Counselor provides services to at-risk youth ages 8?24 ,
delivering prevention-focused programming on topics such as
gender-based violence, bullying, substance abuse, conflict
resolution, leadership, job readiness, and college prep.
Responsibilities include curriculum development, wellness calls,
workshops, outreach, and programming at schools and community
sites, with additional duties as needed to support program goals.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT POSITION UNTIL JUNE 2026 ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Functions Design and
facilitate an 8-week, school-based group curriculum that supports
youth in building knowledge, skills, and support systems for a
violence-free, healthy future. Collaborate with counselors and Case
Specialists to develop and deliver engaging lessons in job
readiness, college prep, financial literacy, and life skills.
Provide light case management, including goal setting, referrals,
and consistent support to address individual needs and barriers.
Support youth in completing applications for jobs, internships or
academic programs. Lead project-based learning and experiential
outings to reinforce skill development. Maintain a safe,
learner-centered program environment that promotes physical and
emotional well-being. Support enrollment, registration, and
orientation for participants and families. Serve as a liaison with
schools, public agencies, parents/guardians, and community
partners. Plan, coordinate, and assess workshops, recreational and
enrichment activities aligned with RAICES program goals, funder
requirements, and MNC standards. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate
youth interns and volunteers, offering leadership development
opportunities. Provide in-house support to participants? families
to help identify and remove barriers, strengthen family engagement
and build skills that support youth development and stability.
Assist in preparing monthly funder reports and tracking demographic
and program data. Promote strong, supportive relationships among
staff and participants. Conduct wellness check-ins and provide
individualized follow-up and referrals as needed. Support outreach
strategies, including engagement of schools and partners to deliver
program services. Participate in program evaluations, continuous
improvement efforts, and agency-wide planning. Collaborate with
community partners to provide enrichment services for youth and
their families. Secondary Functions Assist in planning and
executing community events, program graduations, and showcases.
Recruit in-kind service providers for curriculum-based and cultural
enrichment activities. Represent MNC at community forums, funder
meetings, and trainings. Maintain accurate records, analyze and
submit data in compliance with funder guidelines. Attend weekly
staff meetings, supervision, and professional development
trainings. Contribute to personal staff development plans; commit
to ongoing learning and improvement. Participate in afternoon,
evening, weekend, and school break programming as needed. Perform
additional tasks as assigned. Customer Service Provide exceptional
customer service at all times. Represent MNC with professionalism
and integrity in all interactions. Safety Responsibilities Follow
all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE)
as required. Immediately report any safety issues, accidents, or
injuries. Promote a safe and healthy environment for all program
participants. Teamwork and Communication Collaborate positively
with team members and leadership. Demonstrate initiative and help
implement positive changes. Partner with supervisors to address
department concerns constructively. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications Education: BA in Child Development, Gender Studies,
Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field preferred
Coursework or experience in Early Childhood Education, Child
Development, or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 2
years? experience facilitating youth groups and working with
high-risk girls and/or boys ages 8?17. Proven success in developing
youth curriculum and programs. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
9:00AM - 5:30PM Requirements: Valid California Driver?s License and
current auto insurance with a clean driving record. DOJ fingerprint
clearance. Current physical health screening (updated every 2
years). Current CPR and First Aid certification (renewed every 2
years). Up-to-date TB test and immunizations (renewed every 2
years). Child Abuse Index clearance Language(s): Bilingual in
English/Spanish preferred. Skills and Abilities: Strong
interpersonal and customer service skills; integrity,
professionalism, and maturity. Excellent organizational, written,
and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize,
and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Capable of conducting
presentations and maintaining confidentiality. Detail-oriented with
strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. Team player
with the ability to remain calm and tactful under pressure.
Comfortable working in a multicultural, youth-centered setting.
Technology Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
Outlook, PowerPoint) and internet applications. Decision-Making and
Judgment Ability to set priorities, plan work effectively, and meet
performance standards. Tools and Equipment Standard office
equipment: computer, phone, printer, copier, and fax machine.
Confidentiality Maintain strict confidentiality when handling
sensitive and client-related information. The position requires the
ability to sit for approximately 50% of the time, walk 30%, and
stand 20%, with frequent use of hands for typing and handling
objects, occasional lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds, and
sufficient visual acuity, hearing, and communication skills to
interact effectively in dynamic environments. What we offer Pay
