Directing the activities of Analytical Services staff including
Manager(s), Sr. Scientist(s), Scientist(s), Associate Scientist(s),
Scientist Assistant(s) and QC Scientist(s)
Providing/coordinating laboratory testing services (internal and
external) in support of the research, product development and
quality control requirements of the company
Ensuring that the laboratory is in compliance with all applicable
regulations, good laboratory practices (GLPs), current good
manufacturing practices (cGMPs) and all safety requirements
Providing technical support to internal project teams as it relates
to analytical testing and methodology
Approving operating procedures and experimental protocols
Keeping knowledge current on analytical testing and
instrumentation, regulations regarding testing and labeling of
dietary supplements and foods
Ensuring companys participation in appropriate scientific
conferences, trade associations and other scientific task groups
and collaborative efforts
Managing the administrative needs of the department including
budgets, expense tracking, internal testing costs, cost savings
efforts and staff development
This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Research &
Serve as partner to other functional groups, e.g., Research,
Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Operations.
Directs the Analytical Services laboratory in support of new
product research and development.
Direct the Analytical Services laboratory testing services in
support the quality control requirements of the Operations group,
including the needs of outside contract manufacturers and

new and existing test methods. Review and approve all methodology,
protocols and reports.
Works with the Manager(s) to prioritize workload as needed to meet
company requirements, maximize resource utilization and minimize

ensure compliance with company requirements and applicable

current through participation in scientific conferences, seminars
and trade shows.
Involve company in appropriate scientific task groups and
collaborative studies and other efforts.
Provide analytical guidance and information to product development
teams, Legal, Field Communications and other departments as

Support Legal through substantiation of claims and by providing
required technical information.
Other related duties, as required and assigned.
Minimum 10 years experience directing operations of a full-service
BS degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry or related field;
advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience in successfully directing laboratory-based
scientific and technical teams
Skilled in the tools of scientific data analysis
Ability to work under strict time pressure
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to creatively solve problems in a fast-paced work
Ability to exercise independent judgment with a wide degree of
creativity and latitude.
