You’ll treat patients of all ages , perform common urgent procedures, and collaborate with an experienced ED clinical team. Based in Oakland, CA 94611 , you’ll be working in a dynamic East Bay community with a strong healthcare presence and access to a wide range of local neighborhoods and amenities. Job Details (Locum Tenens / Travel) Job Title: Locum Tenens Physician Assistant (PA) – Emergency Medicine (Rapid Care) Employment Type: Travel (Locum Tenens) Start Date: 02/16/2026 Assignment End Date: 02/28/2026 Openings: 4 Specialty/Setting: Emergency Medicine – Rapid Care (low acuity) Locations: Oakland, CA and Richmond, CA (sites ~11 miles apart; must be comfortable floating) Schedule: 12-hour shifts Shift Options: 7:00a–7:00p and 2:00p–2:00a Shifts per Week: 3 Hours per Week: 36 Compensation (Estimated Weekly Pay): $5,576 - $6,195 per week Job Requirements Experience: Minimum 1 year of Physician Assistant experience in Emergency Medicine , Urgent Care , or a comparable fast-paced ambulatory/acute care setting Licensure: Active California Physician Assistant license (or ability to obtain) Certifications: Current BLS , ACLS , and PALS Patient Population: Comfortable treating pediatric and adult patients (all ages) Flexibility: Willingness to float between Oakland, CA and Richmond, CA sites as needed Responsibilities (Emergency Medicine Rapid Care) Evaluate and treat low-acuity Rapid Care patients (average flow ~3 patients per hour; varies with volume) Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning for urgent presentations in an ED/Rapid Care setting Perform and/or manage common urgent procedures including laceration repair , abscess/paronychia I&D , and foreign body removal (eye/ear/nose) Reduce finger dislocations and oversee/perform splinting and immobilization as appropriate Conduct tonopen eye pressure checks and provide initial management for eye complaints Perform nasal packing and manage minor epistaxis presentations Document assessments, plans, procedures, and discharge instructions clearly and efficiently in the medical record Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the ED care team to support safe throughput, patient education, and high-quality outcomes Apply now to join our East Bay healthcare team for this locum tenens PA opportunity in Oakland, CA with floating support to Richmond, CA .
