Strategic Alliances legal team provides transactional counsel and
support for our business teams working with Workday customers
purchasing professional services as well as organizations
participating in Workday's various services, channels, and software
partner programs. We partner with the broader Workday legal team
and other cross-functional teams to drive growth, improve customer
experience and scale on our path to $10 billion in revenue.About
the RoleThe Assistant General Counsel, Channels & Strategic
Alliances, will lead optimization of our global go to market
channels legal strategy across all verticals and business segments,
oversee the development and delivery of legal terms that provide
customer-oriented solutions, and enable our strategic innovation
and revenue growth objectives globally. This role will lead cross
functional initiatives which align to our GTM strategy for new
markets and our strategic growth initiatives. -The ideal candidate
will possess exceptional judgment and business acumen and be
comfortable, effective, and persuasive in dealing with customers,
partners, senior management, and business and legal stakeholders
and leading as an innovative change agent to drive process and
cultural innovation. You will:
- Collaborate with leaders across the sales organization to
support strategic growth initiatives
- Design and implement the legal approach for new go to market
models and new types of strategic relationships
- Drive valuable technology transactions, which will include
negotiation with alliance partners and customers, including partner
program, data processing and professional services agreements,
assignments, amendments, and add on transactions
- Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal
teams regarding business and legal issues and risks
- Assist in implementing legal efficiencies to support the
alliances and professional services business unit and improve our
contract processes and operations in that segment
- Help build and improve contract templates and negotiation
playbooks and provide internal training to services sales, services
operations, contract operations, and the broader GTM legal team on
how we can create a frictionless contract experience
- Partner effectively with deals management, sales, revenue
recognition, privacy, security, and contracts operations, as well
as managing external legal counsel as requiredAbout YouBasic
Qualifications:
- J.D. Degree and membership in at least one state bar in good
standing
- 10+ years of law firm and/or in-house legal experience, with at
least 5 years focused on negotiation and management of high-value
technology transactions
- CIPP/E Certification and/or deep understanding of complex
global data privacy laws and principlesOther Qualifications:
- Experience with SaaS, web technologies, cloud
technologies/platforms, cloud computing, and/or enterprise
software
- Experience supporting a high-volume, creative sales
organization that is exploring new channels to bring products and
solutions to customers
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and the
ability to communicate effectively with legal and non-legal
audiences at all levels of the organization
- Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills, comfortable
and adept at teaming with services leadership in fast paced
customer facing transactions
- Ability to work independently and balance a large volume of
transactions and projects simultaneously under pressure
- Attention to detail, willingness to roll up their sleeves to
get into the details and drive creative solutions but ability to
think on the fly and drive efficient deal process and fast decision
making
- Demonstrated exceptional judgment and integrity with the
ability to think strategically and give practical advice
appropriately weighing legal and business objectives
- Strong leadership ability, including outstanding influence and
communication skills
- Superior business judgment and the ability to address complex
opportunities and issues in creative and effective ways, always
with the customer in mind
- High level of integrity, professionalism, curiosity, humility,
and willingness to grow

of this job is listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work
location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role
may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific
commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.

Primary Location: USA.CA.PleasantonBase Pay Min to Max Range:
$208,600 - $313,000 Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday
