Check Us Out What We Are Looking For A Bioinformatics Engineer excited to work with product development scientists, software and web developers and to develop the next generation of standalone and cloud-based software for assay design and analysis of droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) data. The assay design and analysis software supports both internal product development needs and customer-facing services. The position requires both strong coding ability and expertise in assay design. Responsibilities * Collaborate with molecular biologists on assay design projects for ddPCR applications. Assist scientists with data management and analysis. * Enhance, develop, troubleshoot and maintain Python code base for our user facing assay design pipeline. * Support the custom assay design needs of internal R&D scientists, sales team, and customers. * Troubleshoot existing assay design and data analysis pipelines. * Present results to project teams and provide documentations as needed. Qualifications * PhD or MS degree in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, mathematics or molecular biology OR. * Bachelor degree in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, mathematics or molecular biology with equivalent experience. * At least 3 years of experience designing PCR assays for DNA and/or RNA detection and quantification. * Advanced skills in Python programming including Object-relational Mappers (ORMs) * Experience writing code to manipulate and analyze complex genomic measurements and annotations. * Experience using reference genome and transcriptome models, and associated annotation. * Experience developing and managing databases, e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL. * Experience Amazon Web Services Web (including: EC2, RDS, S3). * Experience with Docker, Git and Jira. * Basic understanding of cancer genomics. * Fluent (written and spoken) English. The following will be desirable but not essential: * Experience with assay design for bacteria, virus, and fungus DNA/RNA. * Experience analyzing NGS sequencing. * Experience with design control processes. * Experience working with multiple functions in the same company to bring a project to fruition. * Experience with technical customer support. * Fundamental knowledge of testing frameworks (e.g. Pytest, Nose and tox).
