We have a great career opportunity for an experienced General Purpose Technician to join our team as a Lead in our Pleasanton, California location. This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take that next step in their career. In this role you will gain valuable experience in managing the workflow, working with customers and providing technical guidance.
In this role you will:

  • Assign work load distribution for the technicians
    • Monitor and maintain our Turn Around Time (TAT) to meet our corporate goals
      • Interface with Trescal's internal customer service team when the Laboratory Manager is not available
        • Act as a technical resource by training and mentoring other technicians
          • Perform calibrations on high level and unique test and measurement instrumentation in the calibration laboratory, and where necessary, at customer's locations (on-site)
            • Use your troubleshooting, repair, and calibration knowledge to work on unique equipment
              • Interact directly with customer to determine needs relating to traceability, adequacy of standards and test procedures utilized by Trescal, Inc., as well as, for items requiring repair or limited calibration
                • Assist Quality Assurance in developing uncertainty budgets
                  QUALIFICATIONSAs a Lead Calibration Technician you must possess:
                  • Military Calibration training & experience (PMEL OR TMDE) OR AS Degree in Electronics or other technical area OR equivalent work experience.
                    • Minimum of 4 years of commercial or military calibration laboratory experience
                      • Experienced in calibrating multiple disciplines of test and measurement equipment such as: Electrical, Physical Dimensional, Mechanical and/or RF Microwave
                        • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements
                          • Strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills
                            • Experience in communicating with customers
                              • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), Internet Research and database management
                                • Excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking ability
                                  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload
                                    And we would prefer:
                                    • Knowledge of ANSI / NCSL Z-540-1 and ISO 9000
                                      • Experience using Calibration Software such as LabView, SURE/CAL and Met/CAL
                                        • Prior experience mentoring and training calibration technicians
                                          • Experience coordinating workflow or leading projects a plus

                                            Job Requirements:
                                            JOB DESCRIPTION
                                            POSITION TITLE: CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN LEVEL: 3
                                            JOB SUMMARY:This caliber technician is required to perform calibration and repair high level and unique test and measurement instrumentation. Job may require a certain amount of specialization and will require technician to provide training in certain areas. A person in this position must be self-motivated and assist in general laboratory duties as assigned. The position may be a parallel career path to lead tech position. Collateral duties may be assigned as a permanent part of the position description depending on individual's abilities.
                                            SOURCE OF SUPERVISION: BRANCH/LABORATORY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE
                                            • Requires little supervision and guidance regarding calibration and troubleshooting
                                              RESPONSIBILITIES:
                                              • Adhere to all company policies and procedures,
                                              • Ensure customer satisfaction and timely turn-around on all equipment and service,
                                              • Perform calibration and repair of high level test and measurement equipment with little supervision,
                                              • Coordinate and lead teams for field calibration and maintenance,
                                              • Seek and provide sales leads whenever possible,
                                              • Create and verify calibration data sheets for technical content and accuracy based upon instrument specifications and approved calibration procedures,
                                              • Develop calibration procedures to meet the needs of the customer while supporting traceability of the measurements,
                                              • Complete all documentation associated with position accurately and efficiently while maintaining a 2.5 % or less of the combined Quality Documentation Inspection (QDI) and Process Verification Inspection (PVI) discrepancy rates,
                                              • Maintain technical proficiency and effectiveness through various means such as self-study, local college and internal training programs as well as through proficiency testing,
                                              • Perform other laboratory support functions as required in an efficient and orderly manner,
                                              • Assist the Laboratory Manager in training technicians and educating customers when needed,
                                              • Interface directly with customers to determine needs relating to traceability, adequacy of standards and test procedures utilized by Trescal Inc, as well as for items requiring repair or limited calibration,
                                              • Assist Quality Assurance in developing uncertainty budgets,
                                              • Ensure that preventative maintenance of the laboratory's equipment is performed in a timely and acceptable manner,
                                              • Managing work load distribution for the technicians within his/her sphere of influence when the Laboratory Manager is not available.
                                              • Performing daily inspections of the incoming equipment to verify: accessories and manuals are available, malfunctions of customer instrumentation, and to change equipment status when appropriate.
                                                EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
                                                • Military (PMEL) experience or two years of a technical associates degree
                                                • Minimum of 7 years of commercial or military laboratory experience
                                                  KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA) REQUIRED:
                                                  • Strong knowledge of metrology practices and theories, analog and digital circuit analysis,
                                                  • Experienced in some or all of test and measurement equipment used in conjunction with the repair and calibration of electronic, mechanical, acoustical, chemical, thermal and/or dimensional devices,
                                                  • Possess strong troubleshooting and repair capabilities, and the ability to work on unique equipment with little or no product information,
                                                  • Proficient in Windows-based and laboratory automation software,
                                                  • Ability to apply basic statistical techniques necessary for measurement uncertainty analysis,
                                                  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements,
                                                  • Skilled in communication with customers and peers, including the ability to mentor and train.
                                                    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
                                                    • Sitting for long periods of time
                                                    • Able to lift 50 lbs
